A special cinematic experience for young people is back – Cinema is our magnet! Following the highly successful February and October editions held as part of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, primary school pupils from Slovenia, the Slovenian minority community across the border, and Italy will once again come together for a film gathering in Gorizia. With Cinema is our magnet!, we will once again take pupils from both sides of the border on a unique cinematic journey, bringing together the Slovenian and Italian languages while discovering some of the best films presented at the Oulu International Children’s Film Festival in Finland, the city that holds the title of European Capital of Culture this year. Young eyes will look beyond borders together and enter the world of film as an art form. In the spirit of bilingualism and cooperation, the event will bring together young people from different cultural backgrounds, encouraging them to share, experience and reflect on film together.

The film gathering will take place at Kinemax in Gorizia, where the art of cinema and the universal language of storytelling will connect young audiences from both sides of the border. The event is part of the programme of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision.

Sofia wants to be prepared and decides to draw a sketch first, but her parents have grown tired of her constant drawing. They begin limiting the time she and her brother can spend playing and creating. But soon, something completely unexpected happens: gravity changes, and the world suddenly turns upside down.

A clever boy invents a game in which he plays a superhero and wants to get his father, who builds cars, involved as well. But his grumpy grandfather has no interest in the boy’s games and throws his toy away. So the boy creates a very special superhero of his own, but the adults are not impressed by his imagination. Yet the boy refuses to give up.
