The year 1954 puts Niculae Moromete to the test: the tumultuous love affair with a married woman, the crisis of political conscience and the loss of confidence in the literary guild overwhelm him. The providential appearance in his life of a young poet offers him a way out of his professional and personal dilemmas, inspiring him to publish the novel Morometii.

The film concludes a trilogy that began in 1987 with The Moromete Family, widely considered one of the greatest Romanian feature films of all time and arguably the finest Romanian screen adaptation of the works of Marin Preda, one of the most important Romanian post-war writers. While the first two films were direct adaptations of his novels, Moromeții 3 draws more freely on the writer’s diaries and articles.
