Exhibition of the work by students of the School of arts – University of Nova Gorica

The year 2019/2020 was for the students of our academy a big practical challenge. After 8 years of working in Gorizia, we moved back over the border, to Slovenia. At the new location in Rožna Dolina in Nova Gorica we already did our annual exhibition and got the people to come and check the new location in December. After that – because of the coronavirus crisis – we had to also change our daily ways, trying to continue the studying process online and especially change the way students work creatively. As the questions of individual integrity, (un)touchability were being raised by this time, they can of course be found also in the works of this exhibition. We all probably know, that in this moment we all get to discover new things (that we otherwise couldn’t), that new ways of looking are being discovered (that we would usually overlook, neglect or take as unimportant). Art needs to get used to the new situation.
The multimedia exhibition is arranged in several sections, from photographs to videos, and all works in a bundle of digital media fully fill the gallery space and give us insights into the experiences of young artists at a time when many doors were forcibly closed.
In addition to the present works, our students also present themselves in various film programs of the First Crossings.
