In 1979, Marko Brecelj left Buldožerji. He joined forces with poet Ivan Volarič Feo, and together, as the musical-performative Duo Zlatni zubi, they toured Yugoslavia extensively. As a minimalist poet-songwriter performance duo, they gained a cult following among young audiences with performances in high schools. In 1979, some of these performances were filmed by Franci Slak. The material shot by Slak on a Super 8 camera already contains elements of experimentation: while certain parts of the performances are documented straightforwardly, other parts were filmed with in-camera editing in mind, featuring short shots, unusual camera movements, and overexposures…
Together with musicians Tomaž Grom, Samo Kutin, and Andrej Fon, we embarked on an experimental exploration. Slak’s footage and the musical backdrop form a new filmic work that speaks through its own distinct cinematic and musical language.
