Film je prikaz današnje Finske. Pripoved gre od humorja do družbene anarhije in želje po medčloveških stikih.

A People's Radio – Ballads from a Wooded Country is a carnivalesque portrayal of the Finnish landscape of the soul and abode.

The short film is based on the iconic YLE programme "People's Radio", and its visual material has been created by the road movie method of driving across summery Finland.

The film paints a panorama of what Finland looks like today. Its narration progresses through humour into civic anarchy, ultimately also towards the longing for human connection.

Director's statement:

I made a feature documentary about one of the greatest modern architects, the Finnish Alvar Aalto. He demonstrated what Finland should look like.; A people´s radio – Ballads from a wooded country, shows how Finland really looks like.

I have been a great fan of this legendary YLE radio program, People´s radio, for decades and wanted to make a short film based on its best material. In the “corona summer” 2020 I finally had time to make this dream come true.
